Cooking together at the school

We love cooking together. It builds a bond between everyone that lasts long after the course does.

Cooking together is a fun experience, and it creates a certain unbreakable bond between all of us — one that is cherished for a lifetime.

The food is Indian, seasonal and mostly vegetarian, and it is eaten the way it is meant to be eaten. Students on the Ayurvedic cooking course learn to cook for their own dosha; everyone else just learns by standing next to somebody who knows how.

What ends up on the leaf

  • A thali of Indian dishes served at the school
  • A meal served on a banana leaf, the traditional way

Ayurveda is mostly a kitchen subject

People arrive expecting Ayurveda to be about oil and pressure and vital points. A good deal of it is about what you had for breakfast, and whether it suited you rather than whether it was healthy in the abstract.

Standing over a pan with somebody who grew up with this teaches that faster than a lecture on the doshas does.
